Right-back set for return; Jones not for sale; Delph reports quelled
Sunderland manager Ricky Sbragia has confirmed Pascal Chimbonda is undergoing a medical at his former club Tottenham Hotspur.
The Black Cats have allowed Chimbonda to open talks with Spurs after admitting the full-back has struggled to settle in the North East.
The Frenchman signed at the Stadium of Light from Tottenham last summer, and has started 13 Premier League games since the switch.
However, he is now set for a return to North London, as boss Harry Redknapp aims to bolster his options in defence.
Sbragia said: "Since he came to the club he's struggled to settle. We had an opportunity to maybe make things a little bit happier for him.
"He's in London, he's having a medical down there, but if it doesn't work out, we'll be pleased to see him back."
Sbragia went on to stress that Spurs target Kenwyne Jones is not for sale, while he also ruled out a move for Leeds United teenager Fabian Delph in the current transfer window.
He added: "Kenwyne will be a Sunderland player, he'll be here after the deadline."
