Midfielder set for talks with Colchester
Simon Hackney is to hold talks with Colchester United after Carlisle United accepted a six-figure offer.
Colchester had seen two bids rejected by their League One rivals, but have now been granted permission to speak with the midfielder after striking an agreement over the weekend.
Carlisle boss Greg Abbott confirmed the reports, and has admitted his disappointment at the 24-year-old's potential exit.
Abbott said in the
News & Star: "The decision is in Simon's hands. He is going down to Colchester to speak to them.
"I don't want to sell him. We asked him the question and he wants to speak to the other club. Simon is a terrific player."
