Bristol City hand defender an opportunity to impress
Championship side Bristol City have offered a trial to former Scunthorpe skipper Izzy Iriekpen.
The 26-year-old is a free agent after seeing his contract at Glanford Park terminated by mutual consent.
He had been strongly linked with a move to SPL outfit Hamilton, while Inverness Caledonian Thistle were also believed to have expressed an interest.
The defender has decided against a move to Scotland, though, and has been training with the Robins since the latter part of last week.
"We are looking at him for a few days and we will have to make a decision one way or the other," said City boss Gary Johnson.
"He has missed about a month's worth of football after turning down a contract at Scunthorpe."
