Talbot set for Chesterfield debut while visitors welcome back Taylor

Exeter travel to Chesterfield knowing that three points will push them into the play-off places. With play-off rivals Gillingham and Bradford both losing on Tuesday the Grecians will be determined not to let the opportunity pass them by. Both sides will want to bounce back from defeats in their last league outings, with Chesterfield losing to Morecambe and Exeter succumbing to Gillingham. The hosts will be looking to close the gap on their opponents with nine points separating the two teams.

Spireites team news

Chesterfield's new loan signing Drew Talbot is expected to go straight into Lee Richardson's squad for the match. The 22-year-old former Sheffield Wednesday striker has joined from Luton until the end of the season and could make his debut against the Grecians. Manager Richardson will be hoping Lloyd Kerry recovers from the dead-leg that kept him out of Saturday's home defeat to Morecambe. Fellow midfielder Lee Askham will be available after extending his short-term contract until the end of the season. Martin Gritton, signed recently from Macclesfield, is likely to start up front again and the Spireites could be boosted by the return of skipper Rob Page, who has been struggling with calf and foot injuries.
Grecians team news
Exeter are set to be boosted by the return of fit again defender Matt Taylor. The centre-half has been sidelined by a niggling foot injury since November. Taylor came off the bench to replace on-loan Tottenham Hotspur defender Troy Archibald-Henville in the Gillingham defeat and could start this time out. City boss Paul Tisdale again pulled a tactical surprise by employing a 4-5-1 formation. Frontman Adam Stansfield was used as a lone striker with Neil Saunders and Jack Obersteller recalled in the wide midfield roles. Striker Craig McAllister, who scored both City goals in the 2-1 win at Dagenham & Redbridge last week, came on as a half-time replacement for Obersteller.
