Midfielder joins on loan with option of permanent move
Fulham have completed the signing of Giles Barnes from Derby County on loan until the end of the season.
Barnes has moved to Craven Cottage with the option of a permanent deal and will help to fill the void created by Jimmy Bullard's sale to Hull City.
Derby revealed on Friday that a mystery Premier League club had made an offer for the midfielder, with Roy Hodgson later confirming Fulham's interest.
The Cottagers have now clinched the 20-year-old's signing, although not in time for Barnes to be available for Saturday's game against Portsmouth.
The youngster came through the ranks at Pride Park and scored 13 goals in 95 appearances for the Championship strugglers.
Injury curtailed last season in the Premier League for Barnes and he returned to the Derby side in December before Paul Jewell's departure.
He scored twice in the recent Carling Cup semi-final defeat by Manchester United, but new Rams boss Nigel Clough is confident the deal suits all parties.
