Steven Fletcher is furious at Hibs for failing to agree a deadline-day deal with Celtic.
Scotland striker feels 'let-down' Celtic deal denied
Hibernian striker Steven Fletcher is furious the club failed to agree a deadline-day deal with Celtic, according to the player's agent.
The Scottish champions made an approach for the 21-year-old, while Cardiff are thought to have tabled a £3million bid.
The Scotland international felt it was time to move on yet his agent Scott Fisher claims Hibs refused to entertain an offer from Celtic for their star player.
"Steven is extremely disappointed and feels let down by Hibs," said Fisher.
"Hibs were unwilling to give Celtic a concrete figure and so we were unable to conclude a deal.
"He feels he is not getting the opportunity to further his career," he added.
Fletcher trained as usual with his Hibs team-mates this morning and will now stay at Easter Road until at least the end of the season with the transfer window having slammed shut.
Official approach
Hibs confirmed they dismissed an approach on Friday to hold talks over a deal for Fletcher, who is under contract until 2013, with Celtic thought to be considering a player-plus-cash offer.
A Hibs statement read: "Hibernian FC rejected a verbal approach from an SPL club to discuss the potential transfer of Steven Fletcher. No further discussion is planned."
Despite missing out on a dream move, manager Mixu Paatelainen is confident Fletcher will continue to give his all for Hibs.
"I can understand the player," he said. "I have been a player myself and players are ambitious.
"They want to experience European football, the Champions League, and Celtic are a massive club.
Commitment
"I can't say I am totally flabbergasted but Steven will remain totally committed to Hibs as he wants to develop as a player."
Meanwhile, Hibs have sold striker Dean Shiels to Nottingham Forest for around £50,000 as he was out of contract in the summer although they turned down an approach from Forest regarding skipper Rob Jones having already turned down two six-figure bids from Colchester.
