Wheater remains realistic

Middlesbrough defender David Wheater admits their barren spell has left the team drained of belief.

Middlesbrough defender David Wheater admits that the three-month barren spell since their last Premier League win has left the team drained of belief. It was 9th November when the team last picked up a win bonus with a 2-1 victory at Aston Villa and since they have managed just four draws in 12 games. Wheater says that the players and staff are all pulling in the right direction to drag themselves out of the relegation battle. "We know where we are, we are realists. Runs like this do drain belief but the coaches and manager are keeping our heads up." he told the club's official website.

Trying

"We've not been on the best run of late but we're trying our hardest. "We have a bunch of confident lads but that needs to be turned into results. We are doing a lot right; we just need to do more." The 21-year old centre-half saw shoots of recovery defensively in the goalless draw with Blackburn and is hoping for that to continue as the relegation battle hots up. "We defended much better against Blackburn and we hope that's a start. "The fact is win a couple and we are out of where we are, not clear but out of the bottom three."
