Defender wants to fight for his place at Cheltenham
Michael Townsend hopes to have a future at Cheltenham Town after turning down a return to Barnet.
The defender has recently completed a three-month stint at Barnet during which time he made 15 appearances for the club.
The League Two side were keen to re-sign the 22-year-old on loan before the close of the transfer window on Monday.
However, Townsend has outlined his intention to fight for his place at Cheltenham and help the club to avoid relegation from League One.
Loves the club
"I know I can do a job at this level between now and the end of the season," Townsend told the
Gloucestershire Echo.
"I have been in relegation battles with the club twice before and I am not done at Cheltenham yet.
"I love the club, they have been fantastic to me helping me start my career and I want to get back playing to help the cause.
"I want to emulate what players like Lee Ridley and Josh Low have done and fight my way back into the side and help the lads fight out of trouble again."
