Chelsea skipper apologises for recent showings

Chelsea captain John Terry has apologised to the club's fans for their recent run of poor performances. The team were booed off the Stamford Bridge pitch on Saturday after a goalless draw with Hull City and Terry accepts that the players are responsible for the fans' unrest. The stalemate against the Tigers saw Luiz Felipe Scolari's side slip to fourth in the table, seven points behind leaders Manchester United. "I apologise to the fans because our performances at home and away have not been good enough and we have not been putting on the performances which give their ticket value for money," Terry told the Evening Standard. "They are working awfully hard to afford to come with their friends and families and we are not turning it on for them." Midfielder Salomon Kalou also sympathises with the supporters after Chelsea missed out on a home win against the 12th-placed side.

Difficult

The 23-year-old thinks that a return to form and possibly a trophy can be achieved with some hard work. "For the fans and for us it was a really difficult afternoon," Kalou told the club's official website. "The most difficult thing is that we had a lot of chances to win the game and we didn't take them. "We had a couple of amazing games at home at the beginning of the season but now there is the momentum where it is difficult to win at home, but we have to find a solution because there are some very important games coming up at home, so we have to keep working hard. "You can always do better, push yourself and improve, and I believe there is a lot of things we can do to improve, so now we have to show the fans we are still working hard. "As players we are frustrated, but we can still go for a trophy."
