Skysports.com's Team Teaser gives you the chance to help us fill in the missing blanks.
Welcome to skysports.com's Team Teaser. This is the game where you have the chance to help us fill in the missing blanks.
We provide you with a theme and you have to compile together a starting XI based on that theme. If you have a Team Teaser idea you would like running feel free to drop me an e-mail at james.pearson@bskyb.com with words 'team teaser' in the headline. Please e-mail with ideas only, not answers.
For example if the theme was East Enders then an ideal defender would be 'Terry Butcher' as in 'Pat Butcher' and so on until the line-up is complete!
Our new theme is one club players. I.e. players who have spent their entire careers with just one club! Gareth Hooper e-mailed in the suggestion.
Keith Brennan wrote: "Matt Le Tissier spent his whole career at Southampton, despite numerous offers from bigger clubs. He kept them in the Premiership in his final game for the club." He is rated by many Southampton fans as the club's greatest player ever. An attacking midfielder, Le Tissier is the second-highest ever scorer for Southampton behind Mick Channon. He was the first midfielder to score 110 goals in the Premier League. Despite his excellent form at club level, Le Tissier was capped just eight times at senior level for the England team, failing to score.
Nicholas Meadowcroft wrote: "Ryan Giggs has to be in there. He's been in the Man Utd team for the whole of the Premier League since it began and has scored some vital goals, e.g. against Arsenal in the FA Cup semi final. He has never moved teams and always had an impact on the squad, even at 36!" On 11 May 2008, he became the first footballer to collect 10 top division English league title medals. Giggs was the first player in history to win two consecutive PFA Young Player of the Year awards (1992 and 1993) and is the only player to have played and scored in every single season of the Premier League since its inception, also holding the league's record for most all time goal assists with 289 assists in 535 appearances.
Former Portsmouth keeper Alan Knight wins a place in goal. He holds the record for the most appearances for a single club by a goalkeeper, having played 801 games (683 in the league) for Portsmouth between 1978 and 2000; this superseded Peter Bonetti's record of 600 goalkeeping appearances for Chelsea. Sam Foster wrote: "Knight played a single club goalkeeping record of 801 for Portsmouth. Whilst he was a registered player for Dorchester Town for the 06/07 season, he never actually played a game." Tony Aris wrote: "Alan Knight in goal. The Portsmouth legend played in the 70s, 80, 90s and 00s for the club."
Steve Bennett Brendan Packert wanted Tony Adams in the team. Bennett wrote: "Tony Adams - he was a great centre back and stayed at Arsenal through out his career and he was a great player for England." He spent his entire playing career of 22 years at Arsenal, and is considered one of the club's greatest players of all time by the club's own fans and was included in the Football League 100 Legends. He wore the number 6 shirt for Arsenal and 5 for England. With Arsenal, he won four top flight division titles, three FA Cups, two Football League Cups, a Uefa Cup Winners' Cup, and three FA Community Shields.
Mike Bradley wrote: "Raul, Mr Real Madrid, has to be in the team. He has been playing regular first team football for Real Madrid for a decade and has recently become the all-time record top scorer for them. Not only is a great ambassador for the team on the field changing his style of football as the years go on, he is also a great ambassador off the field. He is the legend that kids can look up to."
Jamie Carragher is one of the longest-serving players at Liverpool. He made his 500th appearance for Liverpool in all competitions on 15 January 2008 in the home FA cup fixture against Luton Town.Ste Valentine wrote: "How about Carragher? Probably one of the most underrated players at the moment and has never left Liverpool. Nor can I see him doing so in the future." Chris Smyth wrote: "Jamie Carragher has to be there he is Liverpool's unsung hero and is one of the best defenders in the world."
Andy Young wrote: "Francesco Totti has spent his entire career at Roma, is the number-one goalscorer and the most capped player in the club's history with 410 appearances and 171 goals." Ryan Dilks wrote: "Totti is a true roman through and through. He debuted for Roma at the age of 16 and seems to be getting better every season. Even at the age of 32, it wasn't a surprise that he gathered top scorer of Serie A in the 2006-2007 season with 26 goals, despite challenges from superb strikers such as Christian Lucarelli, Hernan Crespo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Rolando Bianchi. He finally got his big goal when he won the World Cup with Italy, where he was sub-captain."
Paul McStay MBE, nicknamed the Maestro, is a former Scotland international who spent his entire career with Celtic, making his debut in 1982 and retiring in 1997. He was noted for being an intelligent and inspiring player and captained both Scotland and Celtic at all age levels. He was capped 76 times for his country and scored nine goals. He helped Celtic win three league titles, the last one in 1988. Sean Cairns wrote: "Paul McStay for Celtic, the ultimate one team man."
Right-back Gary Kelly played his entire career with Leeds United, making 531 appearances in total for West Yorkshire club. He is the only player from the non-Don Revie era at Leeds to join the 500 appearances club. Craig Jeff wrote: "Gary Kelly of Leeds United, the Irishman played over 500 games for Leeds over 16 years, mainly as an attacking right back. He made his debut in the 1991/92 season, the season Leeds were crowned English champions."
Paul Heming, Scott Williams, Chris Tribbeck, Lewis Mclennan, Padraig O'looney, John Greenfield and Luke Ryan all wanted Paolo Maldini to fill the left-back role. Scott Williams wrote: "Maldini at left back - it has to be!! From 1984 to the present day he has made nearly 700 appearances for the club, winning the Serie A title 7 times, 5 Champions League medals, Super Cup 5 times, 5 Domestic trophies as well as Euro & World Cup runner up medals. He is an international icon, Italy's most capped player & will always be left-back in my all time dream team, let alone a one-club men team."
One-club man Lars Ricken spent his entire 15-year career with Borussia Dortmund. At one time he youngest player to ever appear for Borussia in an official match, a record that has since been broken by Nuri Sahin. Shahed Raj said: "Lars Ricken in right midfield. He played for Dortmund his whole career. He was their youngest-ever scorer, and he scored the fastest goal in the Champions League after coming on the 1997 final and netting with his first touch."
