England star wants Italian job

David Beckham has reiterated his desire to make his loan move from LA Galaxy to AC Milan permanent. Galaxy claim any proposed move to the San Siro is off after Milan failed to meet a deadline to do the deal imposed by the MLS club. Milan remain hopeful a compromise can be agreed to see Beckham stay at the club with the England international impressing with the Rossoneri. Beckham has called on both sides to strike a deal to enable him to stay at Milan with the former Manchester United star admitting he knew he wanted to stay in Italy after just one week at the club. "I have said it before and I'll say it again: I hope to stay at Milan. I hope the negotiations with the Galaxy can go the way I want them to," Beckham told Gazzetta dello Sport.

Realisation

"Just after I arrived here, I realised Milan were the team for me. I can assure you that when I agreed the loan I did not think I would stay past March 9. "But after a week and playing my first game, I understood I have to keep playing at this level." Beckham, who had the chance to join Milan in 2007, has no regrets over his move to America and insists he has enjoyed his time at LA Galaxy. "I never snubbed Milan in 2007. Their offer arrived late. Anyway I never regret any of my choices," added Beckham. "With Galaxy I won nothing, but it has been a good experience. "I've missed success on the pitch but not off it. "I don't know if I left a sign in USA football. Surely MLS has a big future." Beckham is in line to play in his first Milan derby this weekend and he is relishing the opportunity of taking on Inter. "I am fortunate, as after Manchester and Madrid I will get to play in the Milan derby," noted Beckham. "I expect a really hot atmosphere."
