Inter took the spoils in their derby date with AC Milan, while Barcelona staged a dramatic recovery.

Inter win; Barca are held; Lyon pull clear; Hertha take top spot

Inter Milan took the spoils in their derby date with AC Milan, while Barcelona staged a dramatic recovery. AZ Alkmaar failed to win for the first time in 12 games and Lyon pulled clear in France. Bragging rights were shared in Sunday's Old Firm derby and Hertha Berlin moved to the Bundesliga summit.
Primera Liga
The latest round of action in Spain was all about Raul, as the Real Madrid stalwart became the club's all-time leading goalscorer. The talismanic striker bagged a brace in a comfortable 4-0 victory for Los Blancos over Sporting Gijon, taking his tally to 309 and surpassing the legendary Alfredo di Stefano in the process. Real were also able to close the gap on leaders Barcelona to 10 points with that success, after the Catalan giants were held 2-2 by Real Betis on Saturday. A brace from Cameroon superstar Samuel Eto'o rescued Pep Guardiola's side in Andalusia, with Barca recovering from two goals down to snatch a point. Sevilla maintained their grip on third spot with a 2-0 win at Espanyol, but left it late to claim all three points. David Villa was on target once again as Valencia were frustrated at home by Malaga, while Atletico Madrid could only muster a 1-1 draw with city rivals Getafe.
Serie A
Inter Milan moved nine points clear in Italy as they triumphed 2-1 in a keenly-fought derby with AC Milan. Adriano and Dejan Stankovic were the heroes for Jose Mourinho's men, while David Beckham limped off in the second half for Milan. Inter were able to take another step towards defending their title thanks to Juventus' failings against Sampdoria. The Bianconeri had to come from behind to take a 1-1 draw at Stadio Delle Alpi, with Brazilian striker Amauri bailing them out of trouble just after the hour mark. Adrian Mutu bagged a hat-trick as Fiorentina recovered from 3-0 down to take a point away at Genoa, while Roma were humbled 3-0 on the road at Atalanta.
Bundesliga
Hertha Berlin moved to the top of the pile on Saturday as they took advantage of slip ups from their title rivals. An impressive 2-1 win over Bayern Munich sent them to the summit, with on-loan Liverpool striker Andriy Voronin the star of the show. Hoffenheim, the leaders heading into the weekend, slip into second after they were hammered 4-1 by Bayer Leverkusen on Friday. Hamburg are back up into third, and only a point behind Hertha, after they eased to a 2-0 victory over struggling Arminia Bielefeld on Sunday.
Ligue 1
Lyon's pursuit of an eighth consecutive league title appears to be well on course after they extended their advantage to four points this weekend. Rock-bottom Le Havre proved to be no match for Claude Puel's men at Stade Gerland as they found themselves on the wrong end of a 3-1 scoreline. Paris St Germain are now Lyon's closest challengers after the capital club overcame St Etienne 2-1 on Saturday. Marseille also remain in the title hunt, and moved into the UEFA Champions League places, as a solitary strike from substitute Bakari Kone helped them past Monaco. Toulouse were also victors on Sunday, overcoming lowly Sochaux, while Bordeaux suffered a weekend to forget as they slipped to fifth after a 1-1 draw at home to Grenoble.
Eredivisie
AZ Alkmaar's remarkable run of 11 straight victories came to an end on Saturday as they let a two-goal lead slip away at PSV Eindhoven. Louis van Gaal's side remain well clear of the chasing pack in the race for the title, but FC Twente were able to close the gap to eight points with a 2-1 win against FC Volendam. Elsewhere, Ajax kept their faint hopes of claiming a first league crown in five years alive with a 2-0 success over Feyenoord.
SPL
The big derby date in Scotland failed to live up to its pre-match billing, as Celtic and Rangers played out a goalless draw at Parkhead. The Hoops, therefore, maintain their narrow two-point lead over their Glasgow rivals at the summit. Hearts reclaimed third spot in the table, and boosted their hopes of securing European football for next season, with a 2-1 win at home to Aberdeen. The Jambos were allowed to become upwardly mobile courtesy of Dundee United's disappointing 1-1 draw with rock-bottom Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
Best of the rest
The top of the table in Portugal remains intriguingly poised, with Porto, Benfica and Sporting Lisbon all tasting success this weekend. Sivasspor and Trabzonspor remain locked together at the summit in Turkey, with both sides held to 1-1 draws on Sunday. Olympiakos look to be heading towards a fifth consecutive league title in Greece, with the Athens-based club moving 14 points clear with a 2-1 victory over Aris Salonika. Elsewhere, Standard Liege maintain a narrow lead at the top of the Belgian Jupiler League and FC Zurich continue to lead the way in Switzerland.
