Sergio Kresic has been sacked as coach of Numancia following Saturday's defeat to Real Mallorca.

Coach pays the price for poor form

Sergio Kresic has been sacked as coach of Numancia after the team were beaten by fellow strugglers Real Mallorca at the weekend and he will be replaced by Pacheta. The 62-year-old took over at Los Pajaritos in the summer following Gonzalo Arconada's move to Almeria and he was given the remit of keeping the club in the top flight after they won promotion last term. Having been beaten by Sevilla, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Villarreal, Kresic was expected to obtain a good result against Mallorca and was sacked after the team were beaten 1-0 at home. That result left the Sorian outfit a point from safety in the bottom three and the club decided to act in order to give the side a fresh impetus at a crucial time. Numancia have won just six matches this term, while drawing twice and losing no less than 15 games. Now the club's former player Pacheta, who real name is Jose Rojo, will be presented at a press conference on Wednesday.
