Laszlo Bodnar has claimed that Celtic were interested in securing his services in January.
Hungarian unsure of future
Red Bull Salzburg defender Laszlo Bodnar has claimed that Celtic were interested in securing his services during the January transfer window.
The Hungarian has been in fine form this season but there has been speculation about his future with his Salzburg contract set to expire in the summer.
Reports in the Austrian press suggest Celtic wanted to sign him and Bodnar says they became aware of him whilst checking on team-mate Marc Janko.
Salzburg refused to let Bodnar go but the 30-year-old admits he could leave the club when the transfer window reopens.
"Originally Celtic wanted to sign our goal machine Marc Janko but on the games they scouted him I did great too," Bodnar told

"I scored a goal and gave assists so they became interested in me too. They made an approach to Salzburg in order to sign me but the Austrian officials stated there's no amount of money they would sell me or Janko.
"But I don't think that the story is over because I know they will make contact again this summer again.
"The club didn't want to sell us because Salzburg want to win the Austrian Bundesliga. My bosses told me that they'll let me go this summer for free if I want but in January I'm not for sale at any price."
Extension
Bodnar is enjoying life at Salzburg and plans to speak to club officials about the possibility of signing a new deal.
He said: "If I stay here I won't be disappointed because I feel good here. I could adapt easily, I enjoy football and Salzburg want me to stay too.
"We're planning to sit together about the possible extension of my contract."
Bodnar added: "I'm happy that Celtic showed interest, it must be good to play football in Glasgow but there are other teams - with the chance to play in the Champions League - too which may offer me a contract.
"I admit that I'd love to play in a big club. I had a good half-a-year and I think I'll have the possibility to take this chance."
