Midfielder hoping for regular role

Stoke midfielder Liam Lawrence is hoping to play a key role in the club's battle for Premier League survival after recovering from injury. Lawrence has spent most of the season on the sidelines after suffering an ankle problem when he tripped over his pet dog. The 27-year-old made his first start in the league since September in the dramatic 2-2 draw with Portsmouth on Saturday. He now feels he is ready to contribute fully to Stoke's bid to stay in the top flight. "If I can play next week (at Aston Villa on Sunday) and get my fitness back each week, hopefully I can stay in the side and we can pick some points up," said Lawrence.

Home hope

Bolton, Middlesbrough, Newcastle and Blackburn are the next four visitors to the Britannia Stadium and Lawrence believes the Potters have to aim for 12 points from their next set of home games. He explained: "I think there will be a few twists and turns yet. There are some big clubs down at the foot with us so if our own form carries on we have every chance. "We have some teams around us to play at home and away so it is in our own hands. "There is a chance we can win all four of our next home games." Manager Tony Pulis realises that his men must focus just as much on their away matches. "We have 12 games left, six home and six away, and we just have to make sure we get enough points," said Pulis.
