South Korean club Chunnam Dragons have signed Feyenoord's Lee Chun-soo on a one-year loan deal.

Midfielder joins Chunnam after spell with Suwon ends

South Korean club Chunnam Dragons have signed Feyenoord's Lee Chun-soo on a one-year loan deal. The 27 year-old originally joined Suwon Bluewings on a one-year loan stint from Feyenoord last July, but was allowed to leave after falling out with the team's management. The Dragons will take over the remaining five months of Suwon's initial loan agreement with Feyenoord, before entering into their own deal with the Dutch side which will keep Lee in the K-League until March 2010. Reports have claimed Chunnam have paid a total of ₤275,000 to Suwon and Feyenoord towards the midfielder's loan fee.

Key player

"I have known Lee since the 2002 World Cup," Dragons manager Park Hang-seo told the Korea Times, referring to his time as a coach for the Guus Hiddink-led national team seven years ago. "I know some people have a negative impression of him, but I will make him a key player at the club." Lee is delighted to be working with Park and is determined to put his career back on track. "Manager Park knows my strong and weak points," Lee said. "I'll humbly do my best, like a rookie." He has a contract with Feyenoord until 2011, but Lee has been informed he has no long-term future at De Kuip.
