Cobblers edge past rock-bottom Cheltenham
Jason Crowe grabbed the only goal as Northampton recorded their first win in six matches with a 1-0 victory over relegation-threatened Cheltenham.
The Cobblers midfielder pounced in first-half stoppage time to slide in a loose ball after Robins defender Shane Duff had blocked a Leon Constantine strike.
The visitors had come close to breaking the deadlock midway through the first half when defender Mark Hughes headed a Danny Jackman corner against the bar.
Best effort
Cheltenham's best effort came after the break with midfielder David Bird forcing a brilliant save from keeper Chris Dunn, who kept out his goalbound free-kick with a full-stretch save.
Robins defender Chris Westwood also had two good efforts, the first a powerful shot that Dunn could only parry and the second a 64th-minute header that was cleared off the line.
Northampton nearly doubled the lead in injury time after a miscued clearance by Robins keeper Scott Brown resulted in an opening for Ikechi Anya but the keeper redeemed himself with a brave stop.
