Out-of-favour Inter Milan striker Hernan Crespo feels it is 'unavoidable' that he will leave the Italian champions in the summer.
The Argentinean striker has fallen down the Nerazzurri pecking order since his former boss at Chelsea, Jose Mourinho, was appointed as manager last summer.
He has made just one start and nine substitute appearances under Mourinho this term and has also been left out of the UEFA Champions League list of players.
Despite scoring the equaliser against Roma in Serie A on Sunday, Crespo believes he will have to leave when his contract expires in the summer.
Anxious
He is particularly anxious to secure regular football ahead of the 2010 World Cup and he wants to impress national boss Diego Maradona.
Crespo told
Gazzetta dello Sport: "It's unavoidable. My deal expires in June, I want to play, and I want to feel that I am still important.
"And I think to next year's World Cup. Should I have spoken with Maradona? Yes, he follows me. But to put my candidacy for a place forward, I must continue scoring with continuity. He knows it and I know this."
Crespo does not know why he has not been included in the Champions League list, adding: "I didn't understand this. In the European Cups, I've scored on a few occasions. I could be useful."
No answers
Nor does he understand why he has not played regular football this season, saying: "I asked it myself and I asked to whom I had to ask it, but I have never had answers."
Several teams were keen to sign Crespo in January until the end of the season but he has revealed why he did not move then.
"The team to which I go must be chosen by me and I go when I decide, not during the season," said Crespo.
"At the age of 33, I don't allow others to impose on me things that also involve my private life."
