Chief executive warns of action after alleged brawl
Oldham Athletic chief executive Alan Hardy has warned of the 'strongest possible action' after confirming a full investigation is ongoing following an alleged brawl involving players and staff during a club night out last week.
The incident is said to have taken place during an evening at Belle Vue dog track on Tuesday 3rd March.
The off-field controversy comes at a crucial point in the Latics' bid to earn promotion from League One this season, with John Sheridan's men having won just two of their last nine games.
Hardy told the club's
official website: "The incidents which occurred last Tuesday are certainly disturbing and the board of directors are conducting a full investigation.
"If anyone is found to have been acting inappropriately, thus bringing the club into disrepute, then I would expect the strongest possible action to be taken.
"We cannot discount sacking in this respect."
A statement added: "The club will be making no further comment on the incident until further notice."
