Brentford v Barnet preview

Image: Elder: Out for season

Brentford are without Nathan Elder against Barnet, who are set to keep faith with Jake Cole in goal.

Williams in line for debut, Cole to keep his place for Bees

Brentford are without Nathan Elder against Barnet, who are set to keep faith with Jake Cole in goal. Elder, who came on as a substitute during Saturday's goalless draw at Rotherham, is still in hospital after suffering a fractured eye socket and cheekbone in an aerial challenge with Pablo Mills. Elder's season is over and Brentford are reporting Mills to the FA over the incident. Boss Andy Scott has drafted in young Aston Villa forward Sam Williams on loan, and he should be on the bench. Goalkeeper Ben Hamer suffered a chest injury at the Don Valley Stadium but managed to play the full 90 minutes and should be fit so Scott could name an unchanged starting XI as the Bees look to stretch their lead at the top. Midfielder Gary Smith (hernia) and striker Ross Montague (back) remain long-term injury absentees.

Barnet news

Barnet boss Ian Hendon is again likely to name on-loan keeper Cole in goal as his side look to keep up their good form. Cole joined last week from QPR and featured in the 3-1 win over Chester on Saturday after Lee Harrison (groin) was ruled out for a month. Hendon had previously been forced to include youth team keeper Phil Carpenter as back up for Ran Kadoch given the departure of Rob Beckwith. The Barnet manager is still waiting on the fitness of Joe Devera, who is back in training but lacking match fitness following a bruised kidney. Stand-in full back Mark Hughes will continue should Devera not make the final XI, while striker Paul Furlong and John O'Flynn will again start up front.
