Spireites cling to play-off dreams, while Mariners seek safety
Chesterfield will be hoping to pile more misery on Grimsby when they go head-to-head on Wednesday.
The Spireites have suffered only two defeats in their last 12 outings and, with games in hand on many of their rivals, will not have given up hope of securing a play-off spot.
The Mariners, meanwhile, find themselves battling for their lives at the opposite end of the table, with one win in 10 outings leaving them inside the bottom two.
Chesterfield team news
Chesterfield boss Lee Richardson will again be without midfielder Jamie Winter and defender Gregor Robertson in midweek.
Winter is still sidelined after requiring stitches in a head wound suffered against Barnet and Richardson said: "He needs another week or so to get it to heal properly."
Robertson serves the second game of a three-match ban but Richardson hopes to have full-back Dan Gray available after problems with his hamstrings and a bout of sciatica.
Winger Peter Till, on loan from Grimsby, is ineligible to face his parent club but he should be available for the weekend visit of Dagenham after a knee injury.
The Spireites have signed experienced goalkeeper Tony Caig on a short-term deal, subject to international clearance, to provide experienced cover for regular No.1 Tommy Lee.
Grimsby team news
Grimsby boss Mike Newell is boosted by the return of midfielder Chris Llewellyn ahead of the trip to The Recreation Ground.
Llewellyn has completed a three-game suspension and is now in contention for a place in a Mariners side who thumped rivals Lincoln 5-1 on Saturday.
However, Stuart Elliott has returned to parent club Doncaster following his loan spell at Blundell Park.
Elliott spent two months with the Mariners, playing 11 games and scoring twice, but after limping out of Saturday's win with a knee injury, the forward told Newell he would be heading back to the Championship side.
Midfielder Dean Sinclair will miss out again after returning to parent club Charlton for treatment on a hamstring injury.
And fellow midfielder Paul Bolland is a long-term absentee as he continues his rehabilitation from a cruciate ligament injury.
