McCormack back for Southend; Cumbrians wait on Murphy
Southend boss Steve Tilson is boosted by the return of midfielder Alan McCormack for the visit of Carlisle, who are sweating on Peter Murphy's fitness.
McCormack missed the matches with Hereford and Swindon due to a groin injury but returned to training on Thursday and is likely to feature at Roots Hall.
Goalkeeper Steve Mildenhall returned from a knee injury for the shock defeat to Swindon on Tuesday but suffered no adverse reaction and will keep his place.
Tilson has no new injuries or suspensions to contend with and on-loan Tottenham defender Dorian Dervite will feature but will miss next week's clash with Hartlepool as he is on international duty with France Under-21s.
Strike duo Dougie Freedman (thigh) and James Walker (hamstring) remain on the sidelines.
Carlisle team news
Carlisle boss Greg Abbott is hoping that defender Murphy will recover from a back problem in time.
The centre-back returned from a groin injury against Scunthorpe last weekend, but has since struggled with a back problem and will be closely monitored ahead of the clash.
Midfielder Paul Thirlwell suffered a medial ligament strain when jarring his knee against Scunthorpe and has done little training since but is expected to be fit.
Defenders Danny Livesey and Evan Horwood (both knee) remain unavailable for selection, with David Raven expected to partner Richard Keogh should Murphy not play.
Marc Bridge-Wilkinson remains sidelined with a toe problem although he has resumed light training, while Chris Lumsdon is thought to have an outside chance of returning from a foot injury.
