Watford have taken Estonian international Andrei Stepanov on trial.
The 30-year-old central defender is vastly experienced with over 70 caps to his name.
He has been plying his trade in Russia but is now hoping to impress Watford boss Brendan Rodgers.
"He is an international and a very experienced player," said Rodgers.
"We are having a look for a couple of days with a view to something between now and the end of the season to provide cover for our centre-halves.
"We are just taking our chance in this period to have a look at him and we can go from there."
