Swans boss calls for Uefa to act on out of control fixture lists
Swansea boss Roberto Martinez has called for an end to the 'unhealthy' amount of games played in England.
The Spaniard believes the demands placed on players at all levels of English football are putting unnecessary strain on those involved.
His views certainly attract support from elswhere, as a season rarely goes by without a host of managers bemoaning the perils of fixture congestion.
Martinez has experienced first hand the rigours of such a build up over recent weeks, with his Swans side asked to play 11 games in 36 days heading into the international break.
The highly-rated coach believes this situation needs rectifying if the English leagues are to fulfil their potential and avoid burning out their top stars.
"You need to find the solution from the top - Uefa needs to look at the situation," Martinez told Swansea's
official website.
"They need to look at domestic commitments and international needs, then pull it all together.
"At the moment, it is on the verge of being unhealthy for the safety of the players and the quality of the football."
