Jamie Bamber told Soccer AM about hanging out with Jermain Defoe's posse at Wembley.
Actor enjoys VIP treatment
Battlestar Galactica actor Jamie Bamber revealed he enjoyed the company of Jermain Defoe before the Carling Cup Final on
Soccer AM this week.
The actor who has starred in the popular Sci-Fi series for the past five years as 'Apollo' returned to the UK earlier this year and reacquainted his love-affair with Tottenham Hotspur.
Bamber has followed the fortunes of the West London club for over 30 years, after making the difficult choice between league title champions Liverpool and cup-winning Spurs.
"I was a child of the late 1970s, early 1980s and, even in London, the kids in the playground were either Liverpool fans or Spurs fans because we won the cups and they won the league," he said.
"I got taken by my godfather to West Brom v Spurs in 1981, Mark Falco scored the winner, we won 1-0 and that was it, job done."
Spurs were back in the hunt for more silverware when Bamber returned from his stint in the States and his first game back in the country was the Carling Cup Final, where Tottenham took on Manchester United at Wembley.
As well as the opportunity to see the new Wembley and his side push the European Champions all the way to a dramatic penalty shootout, Bamber told
Soccer AM he was also fortunate enough to stumble upon some VIP treatment.
"Me and my brother were trying to find one of his mates and we wandered into the Calring players' lunch before the game. We blithely walked past this woman who was checking everyone's name and didn't realise what we were doing.
"Suddenly I looked round and Wayne Rooney was looking straight at me. I said: 'It's Wayne!'
"We went and got a beer and ended up staying in there next to Jermain Defoe and his posse."
