England boss salutes transformation under his stewardship

Fabio Capello has expressed his delight at England's transformation under his stewardship. Italian coach Capello has restored pride to the England national team following their infamous failure to reach Euro 2008 under Steve McClaren. Capello's impact has been impressive since he took over last year, and Wednesday's success over Ukraine made it five straight World Cup qualifying wins in Group Six. The former Real Madrid coach said: "The team has progressed as much as I wanted. "We have played better in every game and discovered a new attitude. This is very important. "When I took the job, I found one group, with some players. Now we are one team."

Fantastic position

Capello, though, is refusing to get carried away with England's position in Group Six, despite many claiming that their place at South Africa in 2010 is all-but assured. England next face Kazakhstan in Almaty on 6th June before tackling Andorra at Wembley four days later. Of the forthcoming qualifiers, Capello said: "We have to be focused on these two games. "They are very important. If we win these two games we will be in a fantastic position."
