Real Betis have named Jose Maria Nogues as their new manager after sacking coach Francisco Chaparro.
The club confirmed the news on their official website, with Chaparro being shown the door with immediate effect with the club struggling just above the relegation zone.
Nogues has been promoted from his post as youth team manager until the end of the season and has been given the opportunity to earn a longer contract.
Chaparro was appointed manager of the Seville side at the end of 2007 and leaves the club in 17th place in La Liga following a run of five successive draws.
