Goalkeeper to miss Watford match

The Football Association has rejected Birmingham's appeal against the red card given to Maik Taylor versus Plymouth. The goalkeeper was sent off in the 23rd minute of the 1-1 draw on Easter Monday when referee Michael Oliver ruled that he had brought down Jamie Mackie inside the area. Paul Gallagher slotted home the penalty and Blues only salvaged a point thanks to Franck Queudrue's equaliser early in the second half. Birmingham disagreed with the decision to dismiss Taylor and sent DVD evidence to the FA to show the incident occurred outside the box. Taylor had also insisted that he touched the ball and Birmingham were hopeful the red card would be rescinded. However, a regulatory commission has failed to identify any serious error of judgment by the referee after examining the evidence. Taylor will now miss the key trip to Watford on Saturday, with Colin Doyle set to take his place between the posts.
