Frenchman still has 'a lot to do' with Bundesliga club
Bayern Munich playmaker Franck Ribery has announced that he still has 'a lot to do' with the club.
The Frenchman's future has been the subject of speculation for much of the season despite Bayern's insistence that he will not be leaving.
Barcelona have been strongly linked with a move for Ribery, with Bayern skipper Mark van Bommel quoted as saying earlier this week that his team-mate would be interested in heading to Camp Nou, before claiming he was misquoted.
Ribery, who is under contract until 2011, has now hinted that he would like to stay with the reigning Bundesliga champions.
"I still have a lot to do with Bayern Munich," he told Munich's
tz newspaper. "I want to improve. With Bayern we have a lot to do."
Van Bommel has stressed that his comments about Ribery were misinterpreted but that has not stopped the transfer talk.
Asked whether he would like to play for Barcelona some day, Ribery said: "Of course, which player would not like to play for Barca."
Ribery is staying focused on Bayern at the present time, with Jurgen Klinsmann's men currently three points adrift of Bundesliga leaders Wolfsburg.
They were also knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by Barcelona in midweek and Ribery believes more players are needed if Bayern are to be more consistent.
"(Bayern) need a bigger squad," he added. "If we have two or three players injured we immediately have a problem.
"As long as it stays as it is, then we will have a hard time competing with the best."
