Swindon v Bristol Rovers preview

Swindon host Bristol Rovers in the West Country derby, with League One survival on their minds.

Elliott returns; Greer and Robson-Kanu set for swansong

Swindon will host Bristol Rovers in the West Country derby, with the Robins knowing that a win would greatly enhance their chances of survival in League One. Swindon are currently just three points clear of the relegation places, but victory over their local rivals this weekend would put them in a position that is unlikely to be assailed. Helping them along will be Gordon Greer and Hal Robson-Kanu who are set to make their final appearances of the season. Defender Greer and winger Robson-Kanu will return to parent clubs Doncaster and Reading respectively after this weekend due the conclusion of their maximum 93-day loan, ruling them out of the trip to Peterborough. However, Owain Tudur Jones, on loan from Swansea, will be available for Swindon's final two crunch games. Midfielder Michael Timlin serves the second game of a two-match suspension received for accumulating 10 yellow cards this season. Defender Sean Morrison will continue to miss out with the knee injury sustained against Yeovil towards the end of March, although manager Danny Wilson is hopeful he will make a return to training next week. Midfielders Jon-Paul McGovern (calf) and Patrick Kanyuka (groin) continued their rehabilitation from injury on the bench for last weekend's 1-1 draw at Carlisle, and they will again hope to be involved.

Pirates news

Meanwhile, standing in their way of Swindon are fellow South West boys Bristol Rovers who have defender Steve Elliott returning from suspension. The centre-half served a one-match ban as Rovers lost for the fourth time in six matches at home to relegation-threatened Brighton in midweek after being sent off against Millwall, but Craig Hinton is likely to be the man to make way for his return. First-team coach Paul Trollope could be handed a double defensive boost with full-back Aaron Lescott close to a return after a groin injury. "Steve Elliott will definitely be back and we believe that Aaron Lescott has a chance as he has stepped up his rehabilitation," Trollope said. Another full-back Ryan Green will hope to be involved in Wiltshire after a heel problem, but if he does not make it then the final game of the season against Hartlepool at the Memorial Stadium will be his target for a comeback.
