Steve Basham could return as Exeter aim to move a step closer to promotion at home to Morecambe.

Exeter eyeing top three while Morecambe target play-offs

Exeter are hoping to be boosted by the return of Steve Basham as they aim to move a step closer to automatic promotion at home to Morecambe. An ankle injury ruled Basham out of last week's 1-0 win at Lincoln, when a late own goal by home goalkeeper Rob Burch kept them in the top three. The Grecians are one point clear of fourth-placed Bury so their fate is in their own hands heading into the penultimate game of the season, which is a repeat of the 2007 Conference play-off final. Inspirational skipper Matt Taylor is set to remain in defence after a successful return from a foot injury last week. On-loan Cheltenham playmaker Alex Russell (knee) is bidding to return to fitness but may have to wait until the last match of the season at Rotherham.

Possible changes

Morecambe still have hope of reaching the play-offs despite their midweek defeat at Rotherham. The Shrimps are three points off seventh-placed Dagenham and manager Sammy McIlroy has hinted he will make changes. Midfielder Fraser McLachlan could be handed a recall to the starting line-up along with Andy Parrish and Henry McStay. Neil Wainwright (Achilles) is out for the rest of the season and Wayne Curtis, who came off the bench on Tuesday, is still not fully fit following a hamstring injury.
