Italians eager to tie up deal
Lazio have told Mauro Zarate that he needs to show them that he wants to remain with the club.
The Argentine striker has shone for Lazio this season, whilst on loan from Qatarian side Al-Saad.
However, the deadline for Lazio to finalise a permanent deal for the player is the end of this month and as yet nothing has been signed.
The Italians have travelled to the Middle East and talked terms with Al-Saad - but with a number of Premier League clubs thought to be interested in taking the former Birmingham loanee back to England, Zarate looks to be considering his options.
And now Lazio's technical director Igli Tare has told Zarate he needs to commit to the Biancocelesti.
"Everything we could have done in our mission to Qatar has been done, demonstrating our desire for this lad to continue his adventure in Rome with the Lazio jersey," Tare explained to
Radio Kiss Kiss.
"But the desire of the player will also be fundamental. He will have to demonstrate that he wants to stay with us at all costs.
"We are confident and await 30th April when a final decision will be made.
"I cannot add anything more, but I think and I hope that in the end Zarate will play for Lazio."
