Argentine likes it in England
Juan Carlos Menseguez admits he is starting to enjoy his time with West Bromwich Albion.
The Argentine arrived on loan at The Hawthorns on transfer deadline day from San Lorenzo, but he has only recently made the breakthrough into the first-team.
He scored his first goal for the club last weekend and boss Tony Mowbray has admitted he would like Menseguez to remain.
And the player, who came through the Argentine ranks alongside the likes of Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano, wants to stay in England beyond this season.
"The idea is to keep fighting right until the end - the last thing you give up is hope. I have enjoyed it so much I want to stay in this league," Menseguez told the
Daily Mirror.
"I am convinced I can fulfil my potential here.
"I also like to play attacking football and West Brom's style suits me.
"If you look at other teams who are mid-table and below you tend to see them just firing long balls and that is something that wouldn't help me.
"I knew when I signed it was going to be a big challenge to stay up but that was part of the attraction."
Mascherano and Tevez
Menseguez, 25, still hopes he could live up to the likes of Mascherano and Tevez.
"I was fortunate enough to also play in the youth side at River Plate with Mascherano and play for the Argentina U-17 side with Tevez as well," he continued.
"A lot of people back home have said maybe I can 'do a Tevez' and keep West Brom up after what he did for West Ham.
"It does give you a lift when you see Argentinians have done well in England.
"My own aim is to get to Tevez's standard because he is a top-class player.
"Tevez has a similar celebration with a dummy but I have not copied him. Even when my wife was pregnant, I started to suck my thumb as a celebration."
