Sky Sports is launching a survey to find out the best player ever to wear an Aston Villa shirt - and we would like you to get involved. We are asking fans of each of the 92 English League teams and 12 Scottish Premier League sides to nominate their all-time favourite footballers. Are you a fan of the old guard, stretching back into the mists of time to remember the days of Tom 'Pongo' Waring who played from 1928-35, scoring a stunning 167 goals in 226 appearances - including 49 in one season! Then there's Johnny Dixon, who scored 144 times in 430 games between 1946-61 and lifted the FA Cup in '57. And don't forget left-back Charlie Aitken, a club legend if ever there was one after racking up 656 appearances during a 16-year spell in the Midlands. Villa's latest crop of players are trying to gatecrash the Big Four, but they're still in the shadow of the stars from the 80s. Peter Withe netted 90 goals in 232 games and was the final piece of the title-winning line-up of 1980-81, while Dennis Mortimer may get your vote as he was the skipper who lifted the league trophy - and 12 months later also had his hands on the European Cup. If it's class you're looking for, it didn't get any better than the defensive Rolls Royce that was Paul McGrath, nicknamed 'God' by Villa fans, and in midfield Gordon 'Sid' Cowans is fondly remembered by many having enjoyed three successful spells as a Villan between 1975-94 - does he get your vote? To make your selection please complete the form below and tell us why you are putting your chosen nominee forward. Once we have received all your nominations, we will narrow down the selections for each side to the 10 leading candidates. You can then vote for your personal favourite. After all votes are cast we will reveal the winners ahead of the 2009/10 season and crown Aston Villa's greatest-ever player!
