The Blues ended the 2007/08 empty-handed, finishing as runners-up in the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League and the Carling Cup.
Despite going so close to landing a remarkable treble, the campaign had to be written off as a failure by a club that demands success.
Malouda agrees with that sentiment, believing every player that pulls on a Chelsea shirt knows how important it is to win silverware on a regular basis.
"We came so close last year, we lost the Carling Cup final and the Champions League final. Even if we had won the league I think the players would have been frustrated," the Frenchman told
skysports.com.
"When you play for a team like Chelsea, you expect to win trophies every year. It is really important for everybody, for the fans and the club and for the players, that we win something, because when you come here the ambition is to win."
Chelsea crashed out of the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Barcelona on Wednesday, with their European dreams crushed at the semi-final stage on a dramatic night at Stamford Bridge.

However, a Wembley date with David Moyes' Everton awaits in the FA Cup final, with that competition offering the Blues the opportunity for redemption.
Malouda believes Guus Hiddink's side can rescue a season which is in danger of slipping away, but he admits the Toffees, who recently ground out a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge during a Premier League encounter, will provide stiff opposition to Chelsea's pursuit of silverware.
"It is one target that we can reach by winning one game," he added.
"It will be a massive game at Wembley. Of course I want to be part of that because I want to win at least one title this year.
"Everton is not an easy game to play though. I think they are dangerous. It is a team we really respect and we have to find something special.
"I hope we can and we can win, but Everton beat Man Utd (in the semi-finals) and they drew at Stamford Bridge, so we are aware that to win the FA Cup we have to show more than we have done in the past."
