Millers complete deal to bring midfielder to the Don Valley Stadium

Rotherham United have confirmed the signing of Kevin Ellison from relegated Chester City on a two-year deal. The midfielder has been on the lookout for a new club ever since City released him at the end of the season after they revealed they couldn't afford to keep him on. The 30-year-old hasn't had to wait long for a new club and the former Hull City man is now focused on achieving promotion with the Millers next term. Joining a new club is often a daunting experience but Ellison should have no problems settling in having played with a number of the Millers' squad at various points in his career. "I am good mates with Danny Harrison from my Tranmere days and I know Ian Sharps well too," he told the club's official website. "I also played with Marc Joseph and Mark Lynch when I was at Hull so obviously the first day won't be too bad.

Good things

"I have heard good things about the manager and I already know John Breckin (assistant manager) from my time at Tranmere. "I spoke to Danny before I signed for the club and he told me that it was very much a team that was on the up." Despite being punished with a 17-point deduction at the start of the campaign Rotherham still managed to finish a respectable 14th and Ellison sees no reason why the team can't push for promotion next season. "When I came down and met with the gaffer he showed me around and I was very impressed with the set-up," he added. "When I spoke to the gaffer the first thing he said to me was he wants promotion and that is something you want to hear when you sign for the club."
