Striker linked with UEFA Cup semi-finalist

Hamburg are lining Kevin Kuranyi up as a replacement for the Ivica Olic, according to reports. Voices in the German media claim Hamburg are monitoring the Schalke striker as a potential successor for Bayern Munich-bound Olic, who is joining the Bundesliga champions on a Bosman at the end of the season. Kuranyi, who has scored 13 goals this term despite not being regarded a first-team player all the way through the campaign, is aware of the interest shown in him by Martin Jol's Uefa Cup semi-finalists. "I have heard about these rumours." The striker, who was linked with a move to the Premier League in January, told Sport-Bild. The former Germany international added after Schalke's recent defeat to Stuttgart: "It is true, they (Hamburg) have enquired."

Staying

Meanwhile, former Schalke skipper Marcelo Jose Bordon has said he would like to stay on at the club, now he knows Felix Magath will be taking over the Konigsblauen at the end of the season. Earlier on in the campaign Bordon stated his intention to leave the German outfit, but the 33-year-old veteran told West German Broadcasting: "I have two years to go on my contract and I have the intention to help the team. "When there comes such a manager and presents a new structure and way of organisation to a club, as a player you would like to share that experience. "Although I am injured at the moment I am feeling well enough to continue for the club. But Magath is the new manager and he has to make these decisions of those who are leaving and who are not leaving the club." More good news came Schalke's way when young goalkeeper Manuel Neuer denied speculation linking him with a move to Bayern. Neuer's name has been rumoured after it was said that new Bayern Munich manager Louis van Gaal would be trying to lure a goalkeeper to Allianz Arena as soon as he starts his job at the club. But the 23-year-old told Sport-Bild: "Moving to Bayern is out of the question, basically. I am a Schalke 04 player until June 2012 and I am looking forward to helping the club build a new team."
