RC Lens have been promoted to Ligue 1 despite losing 3-1 at Brest on Friday. The 1998 French champions, relegated last season, have an unassailable lead at the top of Ligue 2 with two matches left. Le Havre were relegated from the top flight earlier this week after a 4-2 defeat by St Etienne. Of the other contenders to suffer demotion from France's first tier, Caen and Nantes currently sit in the drop zone with three games of the season remaining.
