Midfielder rejects new contract at Boundary Park

Mark Allott is to leave Oldham Athletic after rejecting the offer of a new contract at Boundary Park. The midfielder's deal is due to expire in the summer, but he was offered a 12-month extension by new manager Dave Penney. However, reports claim Allott wanted a two-year deal and Penney confirmed the 31-year-old will now be looking for another club. "We offered Mark a good package, but he informed us that he would not be taking up the contract," Penney told the club's official website. "Mark is an excellent professional who has served the club with distinction and we wish him all the best for the future." Allott started his career with the Latics and rejoined the club for a second spell in 2007 following a stint at Chesterfield.
