Ricardo Quaresma has rejected suggestions that he is on the brink of completing a switch to Genoa.
Genoa president Enrico Preziosi revealed on Tuesday he had reached a compromise with Inter Milan to have Quaresma included in the deal that will see Diego Milito and Thiago Motta move to the Italian champions in the summer.
However, Quaresma, who joined Inter from Porto in a big-money move less than a year ago, has stressed he is eager for a second chance at the Giuseppe Meazza to finally prove his worth.
The 25-year-old has spent the second half of the season on loan with Chelsea after a quiet first few months in Italy.
"I will return to Inter," he told
A Bola. "I am in debt to president (Massimo) Moratti, because he made a huge financial effort to sign me, and also to (Jose) Mourinho, because he wanted me and I know he fought hard for my move to Inter to be possible.
"I also want to show everyone at Inter that it was not a mistake to sign me.
Not afraid
"It is true I did not do the pre-season with Inter a year ago, it is true things did not go well for me in Milan and I assume my responsibility for that failure.
"But I am confident of my value and I know I am capable of turning this round and showing what I can do, what I am worth."
Inter Milan manager Jose Mourinho has been very critical of Quaresma's mental game but the former Barcelona man has assured his Portuguese compatriot he is now a stronger player.
"In fact, my agent has told me of alternatives, including in Italy, but I have told him I do not want anything but to return to Inter, work hard, do the pre-season that I did not do a year ago and prove I am not afraid of the pressure or the whistles and that my signing was not, I repeat, was not a mistake.," he concluded.
