Monchengladbach part with manager

Hans Meyer has left his post at Borussia Monchengladbach, claiming he is not the right man for the job. The experienced coach was unable to bring the best out of the struggling Bundesliga outfit last season and has been forced to accept he is not up to the challenge. Meyer took charge at Borussia Park for a second time, following a previous spell between 1999 and 2003, in October. However, he saw the club rooted to the foot of the German top flight for much of the season, with only a 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund on the final day seeing them to safety. Meyer feels Monchengladbach now need to head in a different direction without him at the helm. "With an almost 67-year-old Hans Meyer it is not possible to build a team," he told Aachener Zeitung. "I could help them with my experience to stay up. Anything else is not productive, neither for Hans Meyer nor for Borussia."
