Warnock sees midfielder as a replacement for Watson
Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock has confirmed Darren Ambrose has agreed to join the club from Charlton Athletic.
Ambrose's contract at Charlton expires at the end of the month and he has accepted a reported two-year deal with local rivals Palace.
The midfielder had spent four years at the Valley, but was expected to leave following the Addicks' relegation to League One.
He has now agreed a move to Palace and Warnock feels Ambrose can fill the void created by Ben Watson's January departure to Wigan Athletic.
Quality footballer
"We've missed Ben's delivery from free-kicks and corners, but Darren's delivery is first class and we can utilise that," Warnock told the
Croydon Advertiser.
"He is so versatile - he can play right, left or off the striker.
"Whatever system we play on a given day, Darren will be able to adapt to that.
"He is a quality footballer. I was so impressed with his attitude when I met him - all he talked about was football, not wages."
