Silkmen sign left-sided defender on one-year contract

Macclesfield Town have signed Carl Tremarco after the defender agreed to mutually terminate his contract with Wrexham. The left-sided player has penned a one-year deal with the Silkmen after he cut short his Wrexham contract with a year still to run. The 23-year-old began his career at Tranmere before moving to North Wales in January 2008, then under the guidance of Brian Little. Despite their relegation to the Blue Square Premier, Tremarco showed loyalty to the Dragons by opting to stay at the Racecourse Ground despite interest from league sides Rotherham and Chester City.

Balance

After starting the season well Tremarco saw his chances of first-team football slide when Dean Saunders took over as manager and, after a brief loan spell at Darlington at the end of the last term, he knew his time at Wrexham had come to an end. "I'm delighted that Carl has decided to commit his immediate future to the club," Macclesfield manager Keith Alexander told the club's official website. "We struggled at times down the left flank last season, so his arrival gives the squad more balance. "He's also a committed player and I am sure he will prove to be a big hit with the fans given his style of play."
