Striker eyeing switch if unwanted at Mestalla

Serbian striker Nikola Zigic is planning make-or-break talks with Valencia in a bid to secure regular football. The giant frontman returned to his former club Racing Santandar for six months on loan in January after his services were deemed surplus to requirements at the Mestalla. He then enjoyed a successful spell with his former club - rediscovering his touch in front of goal - and hopes to now earn a move to a UEFA Champions League side if he is not wanted at Valencia. Failing that, he would be happy to go back to Racing, from where he switched to Valencia in a £13.5million move back in August 2007. Zigic told AS: "I do not know where I'll end up next season. I have to speak to Valencia, I'd like to play in the Champions League.

Very happy

"Racing Santander? I was very happy there, if I can not find a major team in Europe I would like to stay." Zigic's agent Milan Calasan is planning to fly to Valencia in the coming days to hold talks with the club. He said: "The player has a contract with Valencia and would like to do well there, but that will depend upon whether or not the board and the coach count on him. "But in the next two weeks, when things are slightly clearer, I will go to Valencia and deal with the situation."
