Sir Trevor Brooking insists nobody will want to face England at next year's World Cup finals.
The Three Lions are on the brink of booking their tickets for South Africa 2010 after winning their opening six qualifying games.
Football Association development director Brooking admits England are not 'world-beaters' but if they keeping progressing as they do, then they will be very hard to beat in South Africa.
"Of course there are going to be big sides ahead like Brazil, Argentina and Spain but the main thing is to get there," Brooking told
Sky Sports News.
"And then the team can believe, if everyone is available, we will be competitive and we don't want to get carried away but we are at the higher end - we are not world-beaters but we are not hopeless.
"We are now creeping towards getting a competitive team and everyone is thinking towards that we could have a good tournament.
"Everyone will be wanting to avoid us when the draw is made, but the key factor is keeping everyone fit - getting there without two or three players missing like what happened last time - if we can emerge like that, then we do believe we have enough there for everyone wanting to avoid us."
