However, after talks had broken down between Real and the Blues, the Brazilian, amid outrageous bids from City for a number of stars, headed to Eastlands in the early hours of 2nd September for a British record fee of £32.5million.
Few, if any, predicted such a move and even Robinho himself seemed a little flustered by the surprise goings-on when in a press conference he mentioned that he had moved to Chelsea instead of City.
