Rangers midfielder is target for former loan club

Blackpool assistant manager Steve Thompson maintains the club are keen on making the loan signing of Charlie Adam a permanent one. The Scotland International joined Blackpool from Rangers in February and played a prominent role in their survival in the Championship. After seeing red on his debut in a 3-2 defeat to Doncaster, Adam went on to score 2 goals in 13 games at Bloomfield Road, prompting Thompson's interest in striking a deal. "We all know what Charlie did for us," Thompson told Radio Lancashire. "Hopefully we can come up with a transfer fee and financial package to suit him to come back here. "It's ongoing with the chairman and Rangers, and it won't be through lack of trying if we don't get him. "He was a great asset to us and was a big player for us towards the back end of the season, but he's just one of many that hopefully we can look after." Any potential move for the 23-year-old will ultimately come down to the Seasiders' new boss Ian Holloway, but Thompson believes the time is right for Adam to find a club where he will feature regularly. "He enjoyed it here and got on great with the lads, so he knows what Blackpool's all about," he said. "He needs to get out there to start playing and find a standard which he's comfortable with, although we're under no illusions other clubs will be after him."
