Star striker suffers hamstring injury
Egypt's Confederations Cup hopes have been dealt a huge blow as it emerged that Amr Zaki cannot participate through injury.
The El Zamalek striker, who spent last season on loan at Premier League side Wigan, suffered a hamstring injury and will be replaced by Ismaili forward Mohamed Mohsen Abou-Grisha.
The 26-year-old has racked up an impressive international tally of 26 goals in 50 caps and also scored 10 Premier League goals last season to help the Latics beat the drop.
The injury has not paved the way for a return to the international set-up for Middlesbrough striker Mido.
The 26-year old has had a troubled international career and assistant coach Shawki Garib has revealed that Abou-Grisha will instead fill the void left by Zaki.
"Zaki was excluded from the list after sustaining a harsh hamstring injury," Garib told FilGoal.com.
"We are now seeking to name Abou-Grisha in the squad to fill the frontline void."
