Morecambe miss out on striker

Morecambe have confirmed they have had a bid rejected for Ebbsfleet striker Michael Gash. Luton also missed out on the highly-rated non-league star last week, having an offer of £30,000 turned down. Morecambe had hoped to entice Gash to Christie Park with a £42,000 bid but Ebbsfleet appear determined to hold onto their man. Sammy McIlroy's men will not make another attempt to sign Gash, who netted 11 goals in 39 games last term Morecambe's vice-chairman Graham Hodgson told the club's official website: "We have made what we think is a substantial bid for the player but Ebbsfleet have told us they are not prepared to sell. "We will not go any higher and will turn our attention elsewhere but we want to assure fans that we are working hard behind the scenes to bring in quality players to the club this summer."
