Sky Sports Scout - Marcus Berg

The Sky Sports Scout is taking a break from his usual duties as he turns his gaze to the Euro U21s.

Our Scout begins his U21 adventure by checking on Sweden's Marcus Berg

The Sky Sports Scout is taking a break from his usual duties as he turns his gaze upon the European Under-21 Championship. Your suggestions have been flooding in for who you want our man to run the rule over in Sweden, and we will be looking to bring a number of reports to you over the duration of the tournament. Before the first round of matches were even complete, a host of you wanted our Scout to check on Sweden's Marcus Berg - and that is exactly what he did. Believe it or not, Berg was always going to be our first player to be looked at - but he made life easier as he grabbed a brilliant hat-trick in the opening game against Belarus in Sweden's 5-1 win. As always, in association with Football Manager, we give all readers the chance to win a copy of the latest game by nominating the player we look at. You can only nominate a player by emailing here, including the word 'Scout' in your subject line. Should your player get reviewed by our scout, and you were first to send in his name, then you will win a copy of Football Manager Live! - which includes a pre-paid four-month subscription. As said a host of you nominated Berg, but first to do so was Karl Ramsden.

The scout reports...

As stated Berg has already become the leading light of the Championship after bagging a hat-trick in Sweden's opening win over Belarus. In so doing he showed just why he was attracting attention before the tournament begin. Berg began his career with Gothenburg, making his debut in 2005. He quickly became a regular goalscorer and 21 goals in two-years later, he was snapped up by Dutch top-flight side FC Groningen. In Holland, he has settled in well and his goalscoring has been even more prolific with just over 30 goals in his two years to date. In 2008 he was handed his full Swedish debut and he has already started scoring regularly at senior level. Berg is a strong all-round striker, who has a great ability in the air as well as on the ground - where he favours his right-foot, but is also very good with his left. His strength is a big plus point and despite his goal-scoring The one major question mark over Berg, which has seem him likened to compatriot Zlatan Ibrahimovic, is his temperament although much of this is down to his committed attitude and despite his tender years he never backs down.

The scout says...

He has never hidden his ambition throughout his career to play at the top-level and a good performance at the Euros will likely see a big move. A cultured striker who looks full of ability and it will be interesting to see who will make a move for him - although with every display, his price will rise.
